Pigeon Valley (Güvercinlik)

Güvercinlik — Pigeon Valley — is the scenic walking route between Göreme and Uçhisar. Its cliffs are honeycombed with centuries-old carved dovecotes, and the trail ends below Uçhisar Castle, the highest point in Cappadocia.

How to get there

Start at the western edge of Göreme and follow the valley up to Uçhisar (a steady climb of ~220 m). From Uçhisar a dolmuş or taxi returns you to Göreme in a few minutes, or walk back down.

Best time to walk it

Afternoon, finishing at Uçhisar Castle for sunset over the whole region. Spring and autumn are most comfortable; the climb is warm in summer.
